Halle (Saale) is a forum where creative spirits from a large number of fields meet and influence one another, greatly to the benefit of film, TV and animation productions and radio. The Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk broadcaster, the publishers Mitteldeutsche Druck-und Verlagshaus with Saxony-Anhalt’s largest daily newspaper, and STUDIO HALLE, an umbrella brand for project financing, production and distribution, are all at home here.

Institutions such as the Central German Multimedia Centre and the Saxony-Anhalt Media Facility give the city its reputation as a modern media location. At its core is the Dolby Atmos cinema mixing unit, which can be used for both sound and image processing.

A centre for art and design

Halle (Saale) offers visionaries the ideal creative environment. Handel’s birthplace features a dynamic, effectively-networked creative scene. For example, the Central German Multimedia Centre (Mitteldeutsches Multimediazentrum) has the municipal start-up centre, film and multimedia production, university research and teaching all under one roof. The ‘Designhaus’ on the campus of Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design promotes new talent in the design, fashion, photography and IT development sectors. These networked structures are a breeding ground for prestigious projects on a national scale, such as the film music conference of the International Academy of Media and Arts, the Werkleitz Festival and the Foresight Film Festival. Network initiatives such as science2media bring together science, media and teaching.
